Providing Books
Stocking Classrooms with a Vital Resource for Learning.
Access to lots of interesting books motivates students to read and develop skills. Yet most Guatemalan classrooms are lucky to have one or two books per student, and many of those books are outdated and not suitable for a child learning to read. That’s why Child Aid distributes tens of thousands of Spanish-language books to primary schools each year. For the first time, teachers have colorful, engaging children’s books for classroom activities, literacy instruction and reading promotion.
We review our book offerings every year and teachers give our staff feedback about which books are the most useful in their classrooms. We strive to provide a mixture of reading levels, genres and subject matter to meet the needs of teachers and interests of young readers. We offer both fiction and non-fiction titles and help teachers learn to use both in their classrooms.

“Never before have we had books that the kids loved so much, that grabbed their attention, the way the Child Aid books do. The books are very good so the kids become interested in reading.”
